I was asked to be part of an exhibition at Hereford Cathedral as part of my degree. This was an exciting prospect as I had seen the high standard of work from previous years’ cohort. The Cathedral is an awe inspiring muse to respond to.
It was so hard to choose just one part of the Cathedral, it is a visual feast for the eyes. I was recommended to look at John Piper’s work and had the privilege of viewing some first hand. This was an emotional moment for me after just seeing his work in books and online, to be able to touch the ceramics he painted and see a mosaic table he created just took my breath away.
I was fixated on these lines and attributed the 3 lines to the Trinity. They are an abstracted image of the ‘Halo’ that hangs above the alter where everyone faces.
