“Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it” – Confucius
I want 2025 to be the best year yet…I realise that in order for this to happen I have to be present…mindful…and part of that process.
Amazingly in the first month this year I have published a novel, started to organise the Art and Ashes Film Project, submitted the proposal to Birmingham Cathedral to create new Nativity Sculptures, THINKING of launching a short story writing competition this year and art competition for the cover artwork.
I am volunteering for Artlandish – https://artlandish.co.uk/ every Wednesday having a lovely time meeting wonderful visitors! The exhibitions are changing every week and is on until the end of March.

February will bring the knowledge of whether I have been successful or not for the Birmingham Cathedral Open Call…which is exciting to finally found out!!
Current work…

I am excited to to have been shortlisted by Birmingham Cathedral to re-create life size sculptures for their Nativity scene. I am now through to the next phase, where I will compete with 3 other artists all wanting to win this incredible opportunity.
I am now developing a more in depth plan and project brief that will include all my ideas, costs involved and how I want to include the local community in Birmingham in the making of the work.
I need to have this done by January 15th and I will be informed in February if I have been successful. If that is the case [I will be over the moon!] then I will have until November 2025 to make and install the 5″ sculptures.

My idea started small – honour my dad and create something beautiful for his ashes to go in. After some meaningful conversations at a networking lunch [Ladies Lunch] the idea grew from something just for me and my family to a project where a film would be made to document the practical process and emotional support, and supporting at least 10 people to do the same. The plan is to show the film and exhibit all the sculptures in a beautiful and sensitive location.
My initial plan was to film just myself as I created artwork to raise awareness of the concept of making legacy art. To show how art can be a positive therapy tool. However, I realised that others might also want to share their own stories. Participation in this aspect of the project is completely voluntary, and individuals can still join in even if they prefer not to be filmed.*
*that being said you might see your hands or art work on the final film.
